Rihanna and Drake lead MTV VMA nominations with five nominations each!

Rihanna and Drake are leading the way at this year's MTV VMA awards, with five nominations each.

As the nominations were officially announced this morning, it was revealed that Rihanna is nominated in categories including Video of The Year, in which she has two chances to win with We Found Love and her Drake duet Take Care, as well as Best Pop Video and Best Female Video.

Snoop Dogg has changed his name to 'Snoop Lion'

Snoop Dogg is tired of hip-hop.

The 40-year-old, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, Jr., believes that he is Bob Marley reincarnated and is embracing reggae instead of the culture of guns he once rapped about.

He has also renamed himself in the process, and now goes by Snoop Lion. 

The artist said at a news conference on Monday in New York that he was 'born again' during a visit to Jamaica in February, and is ready to make music that his 'kids and grandparents can listen to.' The former gangster rapper is releasing a reggae album called Reincarnated.

He said that in Jamaica, he connected with Bob Marley's spirit and is now 'Bob Marley reincarnated.'
Marley's son Rohan attended the conference and gave Snoop his blessing.

'I feel like I've always been Rastafarian,' Snoop said of the spiritual Jamaican movement. While there, he said, he visited a temple, was renamed Snoop Lion and was also given the Ethiopian name Berhane, meaning 'light of the world.'

Snoop didn't explain why he was switching from Dogg to Lion, but it's likely a reference to the Lion of Judah, a religious symbol popular in Rastafarian and Ethiopian culture.

Michael Jackson's estate blocks family members from children's home

The estate of Michael Jackson has confirmed reports that it has blocked some members of the extended family from the home shared by his children and mother.

The estate has drawn up a list of approved guests in the wake of a family feud that turned into a driveway argument last week.

'It is imperative to the estate that from this point forward a safe and appropriate environment be provided for Michael Jackson's children and his mother,' the statement reads.

While the estate has not released the list, the news came in response to a report that Jackson's siblings Randy, Janet and Jermaine had been blocked from visiting the home.

The E! presenter, who is now expecting a baby boy via surrogate, spoke out how she hit rock bottom before bouncing back to her happiest.

She explained: 'I was at the lowest - I'd just been diagnosed with breast cancer, I'd been trying to have a baby for four years and I think sometimes you have to get to your darkest point in life and then the brightest light just appears and that's when the good news come.'

We were offered N20m to kill Oshiomhole's Aide-Suspect

A suspect in custody in connection with the murder of Olaitan Oyerinde, the Private Secretary to Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, has reportedly told police interrogators that he was offered N20m for the job.

He said he was paid N200,000 as part payment with which he recruited four others.

Five suspects, including the Executive Director of the African Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), Rev. David Ugolor, have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Rev. Ugolor was picked up on Friday by the investigating team from the Force CID in Abuja. His office and residence were ransacked. He was arrested after the suspect named one "David" as the sponsor of the murder.

“On Saturday, the 28th of July 2012 at about 6:46pm, I drove into the new car park under construction at the Oriental Hotel Ozumba Mbadiwe str, V/I Lagos. The “Security” guard stationed at the gate; as usual did not take my plate number, issue me a parking ticket or try to identify the driver of the car as normally done with other guests who drive into that particular car park.
I had been invited to cover two events; the ‘YNaija Hashtag’ party and senator Ita Giwa’s daughter’s dinner party.
After I had finished work at both events, at around 11:15pm there about I noticed that my car was not at the spot I had parked it on. I and the hotel security men combed the entire car park several times to be sure I did not forget where I had parked and still did not find my car.

Gunmen attack vice President Sambo's home in Zaira!

Spokesperson of the Police in Kaduna,Balteh Abdulrazaq, has confirmed  that one person died today when some unknown gunmen engaged the Police guarding the Zaria residence of Vice President Namadi Sambo in a gun battle.

Mr. Abdulrazaq said, " three gunmen came on a motor bike and opened fire on the police guards at the VP's home at Baba Ahmed Road, Tudun Wada, Zaria".

He also said, "The mobile policemen on guard and the assailants were engaged in a gun battle around 11.30 .am. However, a cobbler was hit by a stray bullet who died instantly".

"Two police officers sustained bullet wounds on their legs and arms and have since been rushed to an undisclosed hospital," he said.

The police spokesperson said no arrest has been made.

"We have already commenced investigation and we are urging the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activities around them," he said.

Oprah Winfrey to star in a new movie-The Butler

Oprah Winfrey is returning to the silver screen to star in The Butler, the first time she will appear as a character other than herself since 1998's Beloved.

The 58-year-old was seen filming scenes with co-star Cuba Gooding Jr in New Orleans.

Oprah, who plays Gloria Gaines in the historical drama,will be joined on screen by a string of A-listers including Liam Neeson, Robin Williams, Nicole Kidman, John Cusack and Forest Whitaker.

The star-studded film tells the tale of a White House butler who serves eight Presidents over the course of three decades.


While it is the first time Oprah will return to the silver screen in over a decade, she has loaned her vocals to several animations over the years, including Charlotte's Web and 2007's Bee Movie.

Snoop Dogg banned from Norway for 2yrs!

Snoop Dogg has been banned from Norway for two years after being detained for attempting to enter the country in possession of marijuana last month.

Snoop Dogg was detained in Norway last month after entering the country with marijuana and a large amount of cash, according to reports.He arrived Kjevic Airport in Kristiansand with around eight grams of the drug which was detected by a sniffer-dog.
A customs officer also said the artist was carrying more cash than is legally allowed and was subsequently fined 52,000 kroner ($8,600) for the violations.

This is Snoop's second drug bust this year alone - in January he was arrested in Sierra Blanca, Texas after his transport was stopped at a Border Patrol checkpoint.

Snoop has a long history of legal problems, including a 1993 murder charge, from which he was eventually acquitted, numerous convictions for marijuana possession.

Usher's stepson Kile Glover laid to rest!

Family and friends are saying their final goodbyes to the 11-year-old stepson of RnB star Usher today after the youngster's life was tragically cut short following a jet ski accident on a Georgia lake. The funeral service was held at the Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
