Prezzo's wife file for divorce

Kenyan rapper and BBA StarGame housemate, Jackson Makini, popularly known as Prezzo, is now officially a divorcee.

The high court of Nairobi approved the divorce case filed by his wife, Daisy Jematia Kiplagat, in May 2012 and ordered that the marriage be dissolved.

High court judge - Luka Kimaru granted the divorce and ordered Prezzo to pay a monthly child support of Sh50,000 for the upkeep of their baby that was born in March 2009.

The couple got married in December 2008 and were separated in November 2011 after Daisy filed for divorce on the ground of infidelity and assault on the part of Prezzo. She cited that Prezzo physically and verbally abused her, causing her mental stress and anxiety, and failed to abide by his financial responsibilities which led her into requesting financial assistance from her parents for the upkeep of their child.

She added that Prezzo drinks heavily and consumes narcotic drugs almost on a daily basis after which he subjects her to verbal and physical abuse.

Beautiful Bollywood actress found hanged at her Mumbai home

A Bollywood actress has been found dead at her home in Mumbai, according to police.

Jiah Khan was reportedly found hanged by her mother at their apartment in the Indian city.

Police have said that no suicide note was found and are currently seeking information from Miss Khan's neighbours.
The mother and sister of the actress are said to have gone out and she was alone at the apartment when the incident happened.

They found Jiah hanged when they returned home. May her soul rest in peace...

NCC Arrests Man For Transmitting DSTV Signal To 500 Homes

A Mr. Ubong Obot has been arrested by the Nigerian Copyright Commission for illegally transmitting broadcast signals of Multichoice (DSTV) to an estimated 500 houses in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

The suspect was said to have installed the DSTV signals to different homes for N5,000 and charged N1,000 per month as subscription fee.

Speaking to journalists in Uyo on Monday, Uyo Liaison Officer, NCC, Mr. Amudipe Charles, who represented the Director-General, NCC, Mr. Afam Ezekude, said Obot was arrested with the equipment he used to transmit the cable television signals illegally.

“The operatives of the NCC have raided Obot’s house over illegal transmission of cable television signals in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

“Illegal transmitting decoders, transmission boosters, rolls of installation wires, and other accessories worth N20m were impounded during the raid at two different locations. The locations are No. 89 Atan Road, 32 Umuahia Road, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

“Investigation into the case continues and appropriate action will be taken on conclusion of investigation,” Ezekude said.

He stated that Obot, who operated as Botex Integrated Service, was arrested based on intelligence and surveillance reports during an anti-piracy operation.

Nigeria Has The Highest Percentage Of Skin Bleaching Women – WHO

The World Health Organisation, WHO, has said 77 percent of women in Nigeria use skin-lightening products, the world’s highest percentage. The figure compares with 59 percent in Togo, and 27 percent in Senegal.

The WHO report said the reasons for this are varied but most people said they use skin-lighteners because they want “white skin”.

WHO also said skin bleaching comes with hazardous health consequences. The dangers associated with the use of toxic compounds for skin bleaching include, blood cancers such as leukemia and cancers of the liver and kidneys, as well as severe skin conditions. It said hardcore bleachers use illegal ointments containing toxins like mercury, a metal that blocks production of melanin, which gives the skin its colour, but can also be toxic.

The child, Kate's third, will be the first for Kate and her husband of six months, and is due later this year. The Titanic actress is already mother to daughter Mia, 12, and son Joe, both from previous marriages.

Babcock student loses 8 family members in car accident on their way to her graduation

One of Babcock's best graduating student, Margaret Okwuikpo, lost eight members of her family in a horrific auto accident on Friday May 31st in Port Harcourt. Margaret's father, grandmother, sisters, brothers and a cousin were on their way to her graduation ceremony, which was to take place on Sunday June 2nd, when the commercial bus they were traveling in crashed.

Margaret's mum, brother-in-law and two other people survived the accident and are being treated in the hospital. So Sad!

78-Year-Old Kenyan Woman Starts Primary School

78-year-old Mariana Ong’ango Ololo, a new pupil at Obambo Primary School, is not only the oldest pupil in her class, the grandmother is also the oldest pupil in the school. Ololo, who hails from Siaya county, reportedly showed up at the school unannounced on 14 May, in a school uniform with a shaved headand accompanied by her 56-year-old son George. 

The school principal Joseph Muloand told the Daily Nation, “It is a unique case. We have to lay down a strategy of handling such an elderly pupil.” Ololo has already missed classes on several occasions due to her poor health. The Nation reports that she is a mother of eight and has been a widow since 2002. 

She reportedly started school because of an interest in politics and was inspired to do so by the election of Uhuru Kenyatta. She told the Daily Nation, "“Uhuru Kenyatta is not an old man, but took over as fourth President because he has got an education. That is a clear indicator that a person cannot rank highly in society without an education.”Her story is very similar to that of Guinness World Record holder Kimani Maruge who enrolled in primary school at the age of 84. Maruge had a 2010 movie, called The First Grader.
