Text: “For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” Rom 6:14
The sacrifice of Christ on the cross did not only pay the penalty of sin but also delivered us from the dominion of sin. The power of sin has been broken. We don’t have to live as slaves any more under its control and influence. The word of God becomes a reality in our lives as we align our thoughts and confession with the word.
From our anchor scripture it has been declared and settled that “sin shall not have dominion over you...” There shouldn’t be any debate at all whether or not we can live above sin or not. The word of God has
settled it for us. So if you are still thinking that there are some things that are beyond you and you cannot stop doing them; then that is a lie of the devil which you must reject. If you are born again the power of sin is broken already on your life. Can you stop that argument and just submit to the authority of the word of God over your life.
Living above sin begins from the understanding that the penalty has been settled already, then we must also understand that the power or dominion of sin has been broken over our lives. If you don’t understand and accept this truth sin will take advantage of you. It will be so easy to allow and give excuses for sin in our lives. Don’t ever accept the lie of the devil that no one can live above sin. If you accept that lie you will live as a victim all your life.
Under the law the people were given set of rules to follow but they were not empowered from within to keep them. But for us today we are under grace. Grace is divine enablement. Grace is not an excuse to sin but an enablement not to sin. Walk in the light you have received today and let grace find expression in your life.
CONFESSION:
The power of sin has been broken over my life. I am not a victim to sin, but a victor over sin. The grace of God is at work in me.
