Text: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”1 John 4:4
Everything God created was designed to depend on its source for sustenance. This is why staying in water is not an option for a fish, but a must. If you have ever seen a fish outside water you will understand how helpless the fish is without water. Every plant came out of soil, if you take it out of soil it withers away gradually. All these establish the truth that everything created depends on its source for life.
From our anchor scripture today “Ye are of God” from the Greek translation means “You originate from
God”. We did not merely originate from our parents but essentially we originated from God. It therefore means that God is our eternal source. Everything we’ll ever need in life is found in God.
For the fish to keep receiving support from the water it has to stay in water. For plant to keep drawing nourishment from the soil it has to remain attached to the soil. In the same light to keep drawing from God we must stay attached to God.
Staying attached to God is more than just going to church. It practically means developing an intimate relationship with God, it’s possible to go to church all your life and not have an intimate relationship with God. This is a relationship that comes from the understanding that there is nothing you can do without God. Knowing God and getting close to him becomes the heartbeat of your life. As important as your degree is, it has no capacity to become your source. Your job is a channel but never your source. No human being is rich enough to be your source. Ultimately God is your eternal source. All you need in life is available in Him.
PRAYER:
Lord by your Spirit help me to know you. Help me to stay connected to you as my eternal source.
