Banker Sleeps On Keyboard, Accidentaly Transfers Millions
An obviously tired German bank employee fell asleep on his keyboard and accidentally transformed a minor transfer into a 222 million euro ($293 million) order, a court heard Monday.
The Hessen labour court heard that the man was supposed to transfer just 62.40 euros from a bank account belonging to a retiree, but instead "fell asleep for an instant, while pushing onto the number 2 key on the keyboard" -- making it a huge 222,222,222.22 euro order.
The bank discovered the mistake shortly afterwards and corrected the error.
The case was taken to court by the man's 48-year-old colleague who was fired for letting the mistake slip through when verifying the order.
The court ruled that the plaintiff should be reinstated in his job.

Man Kills His Wife, Then Hangs Himself At Their Home In Ondo State
A 47 year-old father of five, Lateef Jimoh, on Friday stabbed his wife Olufunmilayo Amudat to death at their Omoniyi Estate home in Akure, Ondo state. The former banker turned taxi driver committed suicide by hanging himself shortly after the killing.
Neighbours disclosed that a court had dissolved the couple’s 16-year-old marriage just two weeks ago and that Funmilayo who was a trader came to pack her belongings when she was murdered by her husband who had begged her not to leave him but she refused.
One of the children of the deceased discovered the gruesome scene after returning from school and raised an alarm. Both bodies were taken to the Ijapo police station after some men from the Deji of Akure’s palace brought down the dangling body and the rope, having conducted some appeasement rites.

"There will no bikini in this year's Miss World pageant to respect our traditional customs and values; this is a sensitive issue in Indonesia. We have discussed it since last year and they have agreed “says Soeratmadjie, from RCTI who are the official broadcaster and local organizer of the event.
Since Miss World is happening in Indonesia this year...and the country has strong Islamic believes...the famous beach wear category will look a little bit different, this time around.... We are talking the likes of the above and below images....with swim wear designed with beach sarongs, making sure the girls are covered.
The chairwoman of the Miss World Organization, Julia Morley, confirmed that none of the 137 contestants would wear a bikini.
"Indonesia is designing for us a very beautiful one-piece beachwear, and I'm very happy with them," she told The Associated Press by phone from London, adding that the pageant will include a special beachwear fashion show.
"I don't think Indonesia is the only country that has that culture," Morley said. "But we like to work in the manner respectful to every country, and I cannot see why when you go to somebody's country you should not behave respectfully."
