Text: “Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near thee.” Psalm 32:9

God wants to lead us in life to his plans and purpose for our lives; to the green pastures of life. This will only happen to the extent to which we submit ourselves to this guidance. Ps 23:1-6

The horse is an animal that naturally will resist the direction that the rider wants to follow. The only way to get the horse to respond is to put “bit and bridle” in its mouth through which the rider forcefully controls it. Most
of the time we don’t respond to God’s guidance until we have experienced one challenge or the other. We find so many times that people get into relationships and businesses without finding out God’s counsels for their lives. It’s when they are faced with problems that they will be forced to go back to God. This is the horse behaviour. The challenge and problem on their way begin to serve as “bit and bridle”.

It doesn’t have to be this way for us. It’s so important that we take our time to receive God’s direction for our lives before taking any step in life. A wrong step today can take your life twenty years backward. It’s important that we start early in life to follow God’s leading, it will save you a lot of heartbreaks. If we insist on following our own ways the “brick walls” of life will eventually turn us back to God, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Give God all the room to lead and guide you in life. Don’t be like the horse. This is another way to acknowledge God in everything you do in life. Get God involved in every step you take.

PRAYER:

Lord I yield my life to your leading and guidance. I receive grace not to be like the horse.
